Counseling that Meets You
Where you are
The therapeutic space is designed to foster self-awareness, emotional processing, and personal growth, while encouraging individuals to move toward the life they desire with clarity and intention.
Therapy with Kens Counseling & Consulting began with a simple goal: to create a space where people could feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow. What started as a social media platform dedicated to mental health education and authentic conversations has evolved into a counseling practice committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care.
At Therapy with Kens, clients are welcomed into a supportive environment where healing is approached with honesty, curiosity, and intention. Whether navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, grief, or life’s many transitions, the focus remains on helping individuals better understand themselves while developing practical tools for lasting change.
Guided by the belief that healing begins when we approach the emotions, experiences, and patterns we’ve worked hard to avoid, therapy is viewed as a collaborative process rooted in trust, authenticity, and meaningful progress.
Therapy with Kens Counseling & Consulting provides individual therapy, couples therapy, clinical assessments, and supportive consulting services through secure virtual sessions and in-person appointments.
Services are available to clients throughout Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama, with flexible scheduling options including Weekday afternoons/evenings and Saturday appointments to help meet clients where they are.
Honest Healing. Real Conversations. Meaningful Change.
Services Offered
Support is offered in a way that is intentional, collaborative, and tailored to your unique needs. Within a safe and confidential space, challenges can be explored, patterns better understood, and growth approached with clarity and purpose
-
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it’s important to find a therapist who feels like the right fit for you. The initial phone consultation is a brief 10–15 minute conversation designed to better understand what brings you to therapy, answer general questions about the process, and discuss what support may look like moving forward. While this is not a therapy session, it offers an opportunity to connect, explore your needs, and determine whether services feel aligned with your goals and comfort level.
-
Individual therapy offers a supportive, nonjudgmental space to slow down, process life’s challenges, and better understand yourself. Whether you are navigating anxiety, trauma, depression, grief, stress, emotional overwhelm, life transitions, or feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, therapy can help you build insight, strengthen coping skills, improve emotional regulation, and create healthier ways of responding to life’s difficulties. The therapeutic process is collaborative, intentional, and tailored to your unique experiences and goals.
-
Relationships can carry both deep connection and deep challenges. Couples therapy provides a supportive space for partners to improve communication, rebuild trust, navigate conflict more effectively, and strengthen emotional connection. Whether couples are experiencing ongoing tension, life stressors, disconnection, or difficulties with communication and understanding, therapy offers structured, collaborative support aimed at fostering healthier patterns, increased emotional awareness, and a stronger relational foundation.
-
Assessment and evaluation services are available to help identify concerns, provide clinical insight, and guide appropriate treatment recommendations. These services are designed to support individuals and families seeking a better understanding of emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges and may include screenings, clinical interviews, and referrals for additional services when appropriate.
Services may include:
Clinical screenings for concerns such as attention, mood, anxiety, and emotional functioning
Emotional Support Animal (ESA) evaluations, when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable laws and regulations
Behavioral and emotional assessments for adolescents experiencing challenges related to school, behavior, emotional regulation, or social functioning
Clinical recommendations and referrals for specialized testing, psychiatric services, higher levels of care, or community resources when indicated
Please note that these services are not comprehensive psychological or neuropsychological testing and do not replace formal diagnostic evaluations conducted by a licensed psychologist or other qualified assessment specialist. The purpose of these evaluations is to provide clinical guidance, support treatment planning, and assist with identifying appropriate next steps.

Before We Get Started
What can be expected during the first visit?
1
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin understanding what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss your current concerns, personal history, strengths, goals, and any challenges you would like support with. This session also allows time to ask questions, review expectations, and determine how therapy can best support your needs. There is no pressure to share everything at once—the goal is to create a comfortable starting point and begin building a therapeutic relationship that feels safe, collaborative, and supportive.
How long is each session?
2
Sessions typically last approximately 45 – 53 minutes, depending on clinical needs.
Do you work with children?
3
Yes. I work with adolescents ages 12 and older, including middle school and high school students navigating emotional, behavioral, academic, and social challenges. Common concerns include anxiety, depression, stress, school-related difficulties, emotional regulation, family concerns, self-esteem, and life transitions. At this time, services are not offered for children under the age of 12. Families seeking support for younger children may be provided with referrals to clinicians who specialize in early childhood mental health.
Do you work with adults?
4
Yes. I work with a variety of adults from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Services are available for College Students,Young Adults, Professionals, First Responders, Veterans, LGBTQIA+ Individuals, Adults (65+) Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, burnout, grief, trauma, or personal growth, therapy provides a space to explore challenges, build coping skills, and work toward meaningful change.
Do you work with couples?
5
Yes. I work with young and middle-aged couples who are looking to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, and navigate challenges together. Common areas of focus include conflict resolution, trust, emotional connection, premarital counseling, life transitions, intimacy concerns, and rebuilding healthy relationship patterns. My approach is informed by the Gottman Method, helping couples develop practical tools to communicate more effectively, manage conflict, and build a stronger, more intentional partnership.
Before your first session, there are a few simple steps to help make getting started as smooth as possible.
If you plan to use insurance, I’ll first send you an Insurance Coverage Worksheet so your benefits can be verified. Once verification is complete, you’ll receive an estimate of any copay, coinsurance, deductible, or other out-of-pocket costs. You can then decide if you’d like to move forward—there’s no obligation to schedule just because your benefits were verified.
If you decide to continue, you’ll receive access to your secure SimplePractice client portal, where all required intake paperwork can be completed electronically. Your paperwork must be completed before your first appointment to avoid having to reschedule.
Not quite ready to start? That’s okay, too. You can schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to ask questions, briefly discuss what you’re looking for, and see if we may be a good fit.

What makes you different?

Therapy with Kens Counseling & Consulting was built on a simple belief: healing doesn’t require perfection. It takes honesty, support, and a willingness to show up—even when the work feels uncomfortable. My style is down-to-earth, collaborative, and intentional. I combine evidence-based approaches with real conversations and practical tools you can use outside of the therapy room. You’ll have space to be yourself, talk openly, and explore what may be keeping you stuck without feeling judged. I also believe therapy is about what you’re willing to put into the process. I won’t give you all the answers or tell you how to live your life. Instead, I’ll provide guidance, ask the difficult questions when needed, help you recognize patterns, and support you in finding the answers that make sense for your life. You bring your experiences. I bring the support, tools, and clinical guidance. We do the work together.
